By accessing or using past.fun ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of the content you create on past.fun. By making a timeline public, you grant past.fun a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and make that content available to other users. Other users may fork public timelines, creating derivative works that reference your original.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service infrastructure
  • Upload malicious code or spam
  • Scrape or bulk-download content without permission

5. Intellectual Property

The past.fun platform, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by past.fun. AI-generated timelines created by the Archivist system account are derived from publicly available sources (Wikipedia, Wikidata) and are provided under their respective licenses.

6. Forking and Collaboration

Public timelines may be forked by other users. Forks create independent copies that credit the original. Collaborators added to a timeline may view or edit it according to their assigned role. Timeline owners can remove collaborators at any time.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page, which will permanently remove your account and all associated timelines.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated or user-submitted historical content. We are not responsible for content created by users.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, past.fun shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
